George Chavez has a rich and diverse musical background. He has beenworking as a freelance musician with various chamber orchestras North of San Francisco since 1993. He served as a substitute with the Santa Rosa Symphony during the 1995 season. He is an active chamber musician andhas on-going relationships with several groups.

Mr. Chavez was very active as a christian musician from 1986 to 1993 and maintains a love of christian music especially the idiom known as TAIZE. Earlier in his career he was employed as a musician with casino orchestras in Lake Tahoe, the Reno Philharmonic, Camellia Symphony and Butte Symphony. He served as Principal Cellist of the Sacramento City College Orchestra for two seasons. He has also done considerable work in Summer stock productions of Broadway musicals, works for full Chorus and orchestra and holds a special affinity for Opera.

His formal study took place during his school years with heavy particpation in All City, All Northern California Youth orchestras and music performance competitions where he was judged as "outstanding" the highest possible award category two years straight. He studied for 4 years with August Heilbron, briefly with Ira Lehn at the UOP Stockton and for two years with Judith Waegell. "My work with Phil's Harmonic Orchestra has certainly broadened my musical repretiore in new ways, I now have the opportunity to develop my improvisation skills and to blend classical training with Rock and Roll. I enjoy the professionalism of my associates in this group and look forward to our promising future"
