Spring Cleaning For The Soul

Phil Hirsch:

I thought it might be interesting to write a relatively long piece of music using the same tempo throughout, changing the style of music so that it takes you through a variety of musical landscapes that evoke different images and feelings.

I got my friend Ilan Herman to write the main theme for the piece. What I wanted from the music was a sense of adventure and a feeling of joy.

We then went on to write a series of musical sections that converged different feelings to help induce different landscape images. We then tied the musical sections together, arranged the parts for the musicians and weaved percussion through the whole piece. After eight months of hard studio time we were ready to release "Spring Cleaning for the Soul." Its perfect background music for taking a drive, cleaning the house, or just kicking back.
